Just recently, i stumbled upon a book by Erich Fromm -The Art of Love- and started to listen the audio book. I knew him from a philosophy content by an islamic cleric.

The very notion that surprises me is that an art is an activity rather than a mere feelings. We don’t supposed to fall in love, as Erich Fromm stated, We stand in love. The cleric describe this as in praying. Than this should be mean that we get to choose what or whom we love, and it don’t stop there.

By this definition, than nothing is wrong with an arranged marriage, as long as we’re not forced. It means love can be established.

To love means to give a work upon loving. It requires discipline and hard work, so that the love does not evaporate.

That’s all for now, i’ll be back when i have fully understand the book.
